San Diego Theatres is proud to offer mobility aid-accessible seating & restrooms and audio assistance systems for guests. Please email Ticketing Services at ticketing@sandiegotheatres.org for assistance.
Seating
Accessibility seating at the Civic Theatre includes:
- Seats with swing-out arms for easy transfer from a wheelchair or scooter are available on the main floor, the Orchestra level, and on both the right and left aisles of the Civic Theatre.
- All seats in the Orchestra section, Rows AA through V, may be accessed via sloping walkways, with no stairs. By using the elevators, seats in the Dress Circle (Row H) and Mezzanine (Row W) can be accessed without stairs.
- Upper Loge, Row H can be accessed without stairs by using the Mezzanine elevator stop.
- Seating in Upper Loge, Lower Loge, and Balcony levels requires the use of stairs.
- Limited seating designated for guests with vision or hearing impairments may be available for select shows. Please email ticketing@sandiegotheatres.org with any specific questions or for assistance.
- If you would like to purchase a VIP ticket, but need an accessibility-related accommodation, please purchase your ticket online and contact ticketing@sandiegotheatres.org for assistance
Radio-Frequency (RF) Audio Assistance Systems
Audio assistance devices are available for guests who need audio assistance . Headsets are available on the first floor in the Guest Services area, before performances. Headsets are loaned at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis, with a valid photo ID required.
T-Coil loop devices are available for guests with T-Coil-compatible aids. Note that these devices are NOT Bluetooth compatible. Please check with Guest Services for devices.
Most San Diego Opera performances at the Civic Theatre utilize the 'Digitext' system, which projects an English-language translation text above the stage. Audio Description Services are available at select San Diego Opera performances. Please contact Ticketing Services at ticketing@sandiegotheatres.org or San Diego Opera Patron Services at 619.533.7000 for further details.
Broadway San Diego offers American Sign Language (ASL) and Open Caption (OC) Services at select performances. Please contact Ticketing Services at ticketing@sandiegotheatres.org for further details or access individual Event Information pages on this site for specific event details.
Service Animals
Recognized Service Animals, fully trained to provide service to their owner, are welcome. and must remain under the owner’s control during the entire event. Companion Animals are not allowed inside the venue. For suggested seating recommendations or additional information, please contact Ticketing Services at ticketing@sandiegotheatres.org.
Event Assistance
If you are attending an event and require assistance at any time, please contact one of our uniformed Ushers or Public Safety Staff. Ushers are available inside seating areas during all performances.
Sensitivities
Special effects are part of many performances and may include the use of Strobe Lights, haze, and smoke from machines, etc. Should you have a sensitivity regarding any of these or other theatrical effects, please review the individual event information pages or contact Ticketing Services.
Please be aware that we may only be notified about the use of special effects immediately prior to the actual performance date.
