How do I buy tickets for Balboa Theatre and Civic Theatre events?

Our website (SanDiegoTheatres.org) and Ticketmaster.com are your only authorized sellers of tickets for events at the Balboa Theatre and San Diego Civic Theatre. Let us assist you with your ticket purchase.

Can I buy tickets in person?

Yes! The Ticket Offices at both Balboa Theatre and San Diego Civic Theatre are normally open for in-person ticket sales 3 hours prior to evening events at the respective venue. For example, if there is an 8:00 PM performance at San Diego Civic Theatre, the Civic Theatre Ticket Office will open at 5:00 PM. We strongly recommend visiting the Ticket Office in its first 2 hours of operation, to avoid increased wait times.

The venue Ticket Office is also open 2 hours before afternoon events at the respective venue.

​If you buy in-person from one of the venue Ticket Offices, you will not be charged per-ticket convenience charges and order processing fees from Ticketmaster.

I bought my ticket from a third party, ticket broker or website other than San Diego Theatres or Ticketmaster. Can you help me?

Tickets purchased from any individual, company or website other than the authorized sources of San Diego Theatres Ticketing, Ticketmaster or our partner organizations (San Diego Opera, Broadway San Diego, La Jolla Music Society, etc.) are purchased at your own risk and may be fraudulent, counterfeit or invalid for admission to the performance. San Diego Theatres assumes no liability for these tickets and cannot resolve any disputes involving their use. What are Facility Fees and why are they charged on all event tickets?

San Diego Theatres is a non-profit. Facility Fees are utilized to assist in funding the operation and maintenance of the historic Balboa Theatre and the Civic Theatre. These fees are also utilized to fund capital repair, replacement and improvements within the venues.

Are ticket discounts available?

The availability of discounts is determined by the individual event producers and presenters. If discounts are available, they may only be valid for a limited time, for select performances, specific seating areas, or special categories including students, seniors, and members of the military.

​Offers for Broadway San Diego events, including Lottery and Rush tickets, are at the sole discretion of Broadway San Diego. We suggest signing up for Broadway San Diego's e-alerts or downloading the Broadway San Diego app to learn if these become available.

What are your security policies?

How long are performances?

The length of individual performances can vary. We may have this information weeks in advance, but for some events, the estimated performance length may not be available until the days leading up to the event. Please note: any timing provided on the San Diego Theatres website or by San Diego Theatres staff is an estimate that has been provided by the artist based upon the best information available in advance. Performance length may change without notice. Some events may also include an intermission that can impact event duration.

How far in advance of the performance should I arrive?

We recommend arriving no later than 1 hour before the performance begins.  Allow plenty of time to park, arrive at the venue, and find your seat.

May I bring my camera to the Theatre?

For most events at our venues, photography, video, audio or recording of any type (including cell phones) are strictly prohibited. Guests may not bring video or audio recording devices of any kind, including GoPro cameras, into the venue. You may be removed from the venue if you violate these policies.

May I bring my infant or child to the Theatre?

Guests of all ages must have their own ticket, including children and infants, unless otherwise stated on the event detail page. All tickets must be located in the same seating area. Some shows may have minimum age requirements and/or content advisories. San Diego Theatres encourages guests to research specific titles and decide what is appropriate for their party before purchasing tickets. I lost something at the Theatre. What should I do?

Please email us at lostandfound@sandiegotheatres.org. Include as many details as you can, including the event you attended, the date you lost your item, details about the item lost as well as where you think you lost it.

Are there restaurants and hotels near the Theatre?

Our San Diego Theatres Dining and Hospitality Partners span several popular cuisine types and budgets, all only a short walk to theatres. Many partners also provide special deals or perks for our guests.
