Jason Clement
Jason is an avid technologist who is also an active photographer, woodworker, painter, potter, sculptor and car fanatic. He was a child actor throughout the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, appearing on stage, film and television, with a several-year stint as a character on a Saturday morning kid’s variety show.
Jason studied engineering at the University of Evansville and University of Louisville, graduating with an advanced degree in computer science. While in school, he worked at both Broadway Shows Louisville handling visual arts design and ad operations and Kentucky Center for the Arts supporting community outreach and computer support and maintenance. After college, Jason worked for several years at IBM in their Advanced Research Facility in Rochester Minnesota developing graphical input systems, followed by several years on Wall Street at JPMorgan in their Global Technology Division developing trading software.
In 1992, he founded his own company, Praxis Research Group, and invented a technology that greatly improved performance on the highly resource constrained workstations of the day. This technology was of particular benefit to large banking institutions and public utilities. The company was purchased by IBM to acquire the technology.
In 1998, Jason returned to his home state of California to join Sony Electronics as head of Application Development in the Wireless Technology Division. He has lead numerous technology and standards groups and currently serves as Vice President of Software Engineering for Sony Technology and Engineering Center.
He served as member of the Clay Artists of San Diego (CASD) Board of Directors from 2001 to 2010.
In 2021 he join the Board of Directors at UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering, Corporate Affiliate Board.
He has been a contributing member of the Consumer Electronics Association since 2011 and a frequent panel participant for technology advancement, standards and compliance.
